BASTIAN STEIN TRIO

Austrian native Stein, Brits Maddren and Donkin form this exceptional trio. Stein’s writing is elegant, unique and constantly reinforces and challenges the idea of melodic interaction. The music of this band can go anywhere, and encompasses free improvisation, atonal counterpoint, asymmetric grooves, and non-functional harmony. A liquid unit, which can at times give the impression of being one instrument constantly change their shape like a football team to let someone else lead proceedings.
